Mango Rice

Mango rice is a traditional South Indian rice prepared with grated raw mango, steamed rice and spices. Mango rice served along with Papad or with Mirchi Bajji is a very good combination. Raw mangoes are used to make pickles, chutneys and rice in season. There are many varieties of raw mangoes available specially used for making pickles and chutney. I am using locally available green Totapuri Raw Mango for this rice. Any other variety of green raw mango can also be used for preparing this rice.IMG_4654

  1. What sort of mangoes do you use? I imagine most of the mangoes we have here in Australia would fall apart if you tried to grate them.
