Mutter Paneer

Mutter Paneer  (Green peas and Cottage Cheese ) is a very tasty and rich gravy vegetarian North Indian dish. It is usually served along with Roti, Nan or Jeera Rice.This is a  Protein rich dish.

Preparation time – 10 Minutes
Cooking time – 20 Minutes
Serves – 3 to 4 Servings

Ingredients :

  1. Paneer or Cottage Cheese: 200 gms
  2. Green peas: 200 gms  (Steamed)
  3. Onions: 2 medium  (pureed)
  4. Tomato: 2 medium (pureed)
  5. Cashew nut: 10 to 12 (add 5 tablespoons of water to cashew nuts and grind to a paste)
  6. Roasted cumin seeds powder: ¼ Teaspoon
  7. Coriander powder: ½ Tablespoon
  8. Garam masala powder:  ¼ Teaspoon
  9. kasoori methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves): ½ Tablespoon
  10. Chili powder: ½ Teaspoon
  11. Turmeric powder: ½ Teaspoon
  12. Salt: ½ Teaspoon (According to taste)
  13. Fresh coriander leaves: few leaves finely chopped
  14. Fresh cream:  2 Tablespoons for serving (Optional)IMG_4106

 

Procedure :

  1. Cut paneer into cubes and keep aside. If you want you can shallow fry paneer cubes on a nonstick pan.  
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add onion puree .Fry till golden color.IMG_4109
  3. Now add ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 minutes.
  4. Add  tomato puree. Fry till oil separates.
  5. Add cashew nut paste and fry till oil separates.
  6. Add roasted cumin powder,coriander powder,chili powder,turmeric and garam masala.IMG_4122
  7. Add sugar and salt, 1/2 cup of water and mix well.Adjust the seasoning.IMG_4128

  9. Add  paneer,crushed dry fenugreek leaves and mix properly and cook for 1 minute.IMG_4134
  10. Add chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix well.IMG_4136
  11. Transfer mutter paneer  into a serving bowl.img_4146-1
  12. Serve mutter paneer  along with Roti or Jeera Rice.
